Terms and Conditions for Alexander James Piano Services

Last Updated: May 1, 2025

Welcome to Alexander James Piano Services. By booking our piano tuning services, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

  1. Service Agreement

    • Our services include piano tuning, minor adjustments, and assessments as agreed upon at the time of booking.

    • We strive to deliver high-quality service but cannot guarantee specific outcomes (e.g., a piano’s ability to be tuned) due to factors such as the instrument’s condition.

  2. Call-Out Fee

    • A non-refundable call-out fee of £35 will be charged for all service visits, regardless of whether the piano can be tuned or repaired. This fee covers travel and time spent assessing the instrument.

    • The call-out fee is payable at the time of service or in advance, as specified during booking.

  3. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

    • Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment.

    • Failure to provide 48 hours’ notice will result in the full call-out fee of £35 being charged.

    • No-shows (failure to be present at the agreed time and location) will also incur the £35 call-out fee.

  4. Payment Terms

    • Full payment for services, including the call-out fee and any additional charges, is due at the time of service unless otherwise agreed in writing.

    • We accept the following payment methods: bank transfer, cash, card, Apple Pay, and Android Pay.

    • Late payments may incur additional fees, and we reserve the right to pursue unpaid invoices through legal means.

  5. Service Limitations

    • Some pianos may be untunable due to age, condition, or structural issues. If a piano cannot be tuned, the call-out fee will still apply, and we will provide an explanation and, if applicable, recommendations for further action (e.g., repairs or replacement).

    • Additional repairs beyond basic tuning require prior agreement and may incur extra costs, which will be communicated before work begins.

  6. Customer Responsibilities

    • You must provide clear access to the piano and a safe working environment.

    • You must inform us of any known issues with the piano or property (e.g., structural concerns, restricted access) at the time of booking.

    • You are responsible for ensuring someone is present to grant access at the scheduled time.

  7. Liability

    • Alexander James Piano Services is not liable for pre-existing damage to the piano or property unless directly caused by our negligence.

    • We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses (e.g., missed performances) arising from our services or inability to tune the piano.

    • Our liability is limited to the cost of the service provided.

  8. Force Majeure

    • We are not liable for delays or inability to provide services due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to severe weather, illness, or vehicle breakdowns. In such cases, we will work with you to reschedule without additional call-out fees.

  9. Privacy

    • We collect and store personal information (e.g., name, address, contact details) solely for the purpose of providing our services. We do not share your information with third parties except as required by law.

    • For more details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

  10. Changes to Terms

    • We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The most current version will be posted on our website, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.
